LowLight Plus, Swipe to select, TIFF, GIF, and more…<\/h2>\n

This update brings a great combination of new features, refinements of existing features and a plethora\u00a0of under-the-hood improvements.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”46224″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” css_animation=”fadeIn”][vc_column_text]In the previous update of ProCamera, we introduced the groundbreaking LowLight Plus camera mode. This\u00a0innovative technology\u00a0makes it possible\u00a0to capture stunning photos in low light conditions \u2013 indoors and outdoors. LowLight Plus mode was developed in cooperation with our technology partner Ittiam Systems, and is available as an In-App purchase. In addition to a dedicated hand-held mode, it also\u00a0includes a powerful long exposure mode (LUX+) that automatically combines up to 64 photos in order to\u00a0surmount both hard- and software limitations.[\/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/2″][vc_single_image image=”46209″ img_size=”full” onclick=”link_image”]

<\/div>[\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text]The new update\u00a0comes with a free upgrade to the LUX+ long exposure mode: now you have the power to adjust the exposure, even after you have taken a LowLight Plus (LUX+) photo. The innovative LUX+ Exposure Boost<\/strong>\u00a0slider does far more than simply adjust\u00a0your photo’s brightness. In fact, it makes use of the full spectrum of information contained in\u00a0the long exposure. Once you are satisfied with the exposure level, you can save the image as a standard file (JPEG\/TIFF). No more worrying about\u00a0finding\u00a0the perfect exposure before taking the photo. Instead, focus on capturing the moment and make the necessary adjustments after.[\/vc_column_text]
<\/div>[\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”2\/3″][vc_column_text]The new exposure adjustment slider is part of the LUX+ preview screen<\/strong>, which is displayed right after the capture process is completed. Please note:\u00a0Auto-Save must\u00a0be turned off for LowLight Plus, in order to make use of the new slider (Settings > LowLight Plus > Auto Save: OFF).<\/p>\n

Swipe to select<\/h4>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”2\/3″][vc_column_text]In Multi-Select mode<\/strong>, you can now select multiple files with a quick and simple swipe gesture. In standard mode, tapping on a thumbnail in the gallery opens single image view. By tapping the Multi-Select icon in the upper right corner of the screen (next to the camera icon), you’re then able to select \u2013 as the name suggests \u2013 multiple files. This function is used to delete or export a batch of files<\/strong> at once.<\/p>\n

Any combination of swiping and tapping works \u2013 for example, you can swipe\u00a0over multiple\u00a0lines of thumbnails you wish to select, then add\u00a0additional\u00a0files to the selection by individually tapping on their thumbnails.<\/p>\n

Simply tap a selected\u00a0thumbnail\u00a0again to deselect it, or swipe across multiple selected thumbnails\u00a0to remove them\u00a0from the current selection.[\/vc_column_text]

5:4 Capture Format<\/h4>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]This newly added capture format is not only for retro-enthusiasts, but also for non-square(d) Instagram fans: The “4×5″ capture format dates back to the early days of photography, lives on in 4×5 inch photo prints, and has experienced a recent comeback\u00a0seeing that it is the maximum ratio\u00a0for uploads in portrait mode on Instagram.[\/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/3″][vc_single_image image=”46189″ img_size=”” onclick=”custom_link” img_link_target=”_blank” link=”https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/BGCbLKLAESN\/?taken-by=procamera_app”]

<\/div>[\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”2\/3″][vc_column_text]ProCamera v9.4 introduces the 5:4 capture format as a native aspect ratio, so you don’t have to crop photos afterwards in order to get these dimensions. Whether the aspect ratio is\u00a04:5 or 5:4 depends on the orientation of the iPhone (landscape\/portrait mode).\u00a0As with all the other available aspect ratios (16:9, 4:3, 1:1, etc.), you set the desired format in the Control Panel (three line icon, bottom right). Long tap the aspect ratio icon to open an overview of all available options.<\/p>\n

The 5:4 aspect ratio has also been added as a preset to the ProCut crop tool in the editing studio of ProCamera. To switch between 5:4 and 4:5, tap the preset ratio (e.g. “5:4”) again.[\/vc_column_text]

This means that your\u00a0focus and exposure points (assuming the exposure circle has been activated), will return\u00a0you to the\u00a0same settings in your viewfinder\u00a0after you have saved the photo. It’s very handy when taking multiple HDR captures of the same scene\u00a0\u2013 \u00a0this way, you do not have to keep resetting your focus and exposure points.<\/p>\n

Lightbox Export<\/h4>\n

<\/div>[\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”2\/3″][vc_column_text]When the ProCamera Lightbox is activated, photos and videos are saved within the app instead of in the standard Camera Roll. The Lightbox was first introduced in\u00a0ProCamera 4.0 and has become\u00a0a user-favorite. Besides the standard export option that allows\u00a0you to save exact copies of Lightbox files to the Camera Roll \u2013 you may now also use the Export Menu<\/strong> to save downsized versions of your photo to the Camera Roll. Select the files you wish to export, then tap and hold the share icon (bottom left) until the Export Menu pops up, and adjust the export settings to your liking. Finally, tap “Next” and then select “Save to Camera Roll”.<\/p>\n

We generally recommend a non-destructive workflow that doesn’t alter your original files.\u00a0Some users expressed their interest in an option to save\u00a0smaller files. This solution allows exactly that, and at the same time makes sure you always capture photos at the highest quality possible.\u00a0After the export process is completed, you have the option to delete or save the original\u00a0Lightbox files. This feature also enables you to\u00a0downsize video files. For more information on the Export Menu, check\u00a0our previous What’s New Post<\/a>.<\/p>\n

TIFF Compatibility<\/h4>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”2\/3″][vc_column_text]Compatibility improvements have been made for TIFF files that are later viewed or edited in third party software. To make TIFF files easier to read in\u00a0software that may have a hard time interpreting EXIF data correctly, enable the new settings option: Settings > File Format > TIFF (uncompress\/LZW) > Normalize orientation: ON.
\nKeep in mind that\u00a0because image data might need to be rotated, the saving process can be a bit slower.[\/vc_column_text]

Bug Fixes, Polishing and more<\/h4>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]Our developers have been very diligent in fine-tuning numerous details so that ProCamera runs more smoothly than ever. As mentioned before, LowLight Plus<\/strong> is now available on newer generation iPods, iPads, and of course the new iPhone SE. LowLight Plus will automatically appear in the Camera Mode Selector on all supported devices.<\/p>\n

The special “LowLight HDR<\/a>” feature\u00a0is a free gift\u00a0to all users who have\u00a0purchased\u00a0vividHDR and LowLight Plus. We decided to offer\u00a0the LowLight HDR feature free-of-charge to\u00a0iPhone 4S users who purchase the vividHDR feature, as the 4S cannot process LowLight Plus photos.[\/vc_column_text]
